WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Hobson's Choice, written by Harold Brighouse, follows the changing fortunes of an imperious English merchant who struggles irascibly as one of his strong-willed daughters, long forced to labor for free in his boot shop, takes her life into her own hands by making a surprising romantic choice. Brian Murray stars under David Warren's direction.
The performance schedule plays as follows:
December 19-January 6, Wednesday through Sunday at 8pm, with matinees Saturday at 2pm, Sunday at 3pm.
January 7-January 27, Tuesday through Saturday at 8pm, with matinees Saturday at 2pm, Sunday at 3pm.
January 29-February 10, Tuesday through Sunday at 8pm, with matinees Sunday at 3pm. Please note: there are NO Saturday matinee performances during this time period.

Nothing suits a no-nonsense play like a no-nonsense production, and that's exactly
what director David Warren gives Hobson's Choice, the 1915 Harold Brighouse comedy set in no-nonsense Lancashire, England. Here's a work with almost no conflict which, by sheer dint of forceful characters, retains its appeal decades on. The allure may actually be enhanced in our post-feminist era, since Hobson's Choice is about a determined woman's ability to shape the fortunes of the two most important men
in her life (father and husband) and remain on good terms with both -- this, by the way, a couple of decades before Dolly Gallagher Levi grappled successfully with Horace
Vandergelder in Yonkers.
