WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Tony Kushner directs the world premiere of Helen, a comedy by Ellen McLaughlin that imagines Helen of Troy spending the Trojan War stranded in a hotel room in Egypt, baffled by her odd escape from history. Longing to be returned to her own myth, she swats flies, has her nails done, and channel surfs in search of news of the war for which she was blamed. Donna Murphy stars as Helen, with Johanna Day, Denis O'Hare, Phylicia Rashad, and Marian Seldes in supporting roles.

In her new play Helen, a takeoff on Euripides, Ellen McLaughlin imagines that the mythic [...]
