WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Once upon a time on the enchanted isle of Manhattan, Tristan found himself a free ride home from a prince in a yellow chariot. Jan found herself the object of two rival princes' affections. And Nilesh realized that heartache and self-torment have a shelf life of about six years. Second Stage Theatre Uptown introduces Anton Dudley, an exciting new storyteller whose urban fairy tale, Getting Home, proves that anything can happen in New York. David Schweizer directs.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

"Fairy tales, like stereotypes, have their foundations in truth," says a character in Anton Dudley's Getting Home. The play, presented as part of Second Stage Theatre's Uptown series, deals with all three of those terms and the muddy waters surrounding them. While David Schweizer's uneven production has a fair share of funny and engaging moments, the play ultimately tries so hard to be cute that it ends up falling short of its mark.
