WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

EVE-olution, a new play by Hilary Illick and Jennifer Krier, stars Sabrina Le Beauf (The Cosby Show) and Carolyn McCormick (Law & Order).

In this autobiographical play, Alison and Liza are navigating the channels of motherhood as they take a revealing and sometimes comedic look at the balancing act of promise and compromise. Both women test the vision of who they think they are, who they wish to be and ultimately, who they become as individuals, as mothers, as professionals and as members of their families. Sometimes we become the people we never intended to be. And sometimes that is better than we ever could have predicted.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

There are some artifacts so much of their time that when they're examined centuries hence, anthropologists can attach an exact date to their creation. EVE-olution, in which wives-and-mothers Alison (Carolyn McCormick) and Liza (Sabrina Le Beauf) describe their marriages and child-rearing in extended detail, is such an object. It's clear from all the talk about post-feminism career choices, mental stress, Paxil, breast pumps in the office, body image, sexuality, and more that the play by Hilary Illick and Jennifer Krier isn't taking place 20 years ago or 20 years on but right now -- or, at least, within the past several years.
