One of Russia's most renowned master acting teachers/directors, Piotr Fomenko's most recent work, Egyptian Nights, weaves tales of relationships in 19th-century Russia around stories of Cleopatra's purportedly scandalous nights. Adapted by Fomenko from the unfinished works of Alexander Pushkin and a 20th century interpretation by dramatist Valery Bryusov, the play received its premiere in Moscow in September 2002. It will have its North American Premiere at the Lincoln Center Festival.
