WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Neil Pepe directs the world premiere of Adam Rapp's Dreams of Flying Dreams of Falling.

Dr. Bertram and Sandra Cabot invite long time friends Dirk and Celeste Von Stofenberg to their beautiful Connecticut Gold Coast home in honor of James, the Von Stofenberg's only son, who has recently been released from an esteemed private psychiatric hospital.

The feast promises to be delicious, but when Sandra enlists Dirk to help her change the course of her life, the sky turns a strange color, Canadian geese start crashing into the bay window, and the fate of the evening tilts toward an inevitable conclusion that promises to change the lives of all who came to the table.

Dreams of.....
Well, I am glad we were not the only couple who left the theater saying "What was all that about?". This was a play about one seriously dysfunctional group of people plagued by events which certainly dont happen in many households!! We have had much fun since seeing the play trying to interpret some of the events involving dead fauna, esoteric art projects and the intellectual roller -coaster of a Connecticut dinner party. I am not sure we are there yet. Great acting by a stellar cast, good set and some sparkling dialogue but ......what does it all mean? Answers on a postcard please.

Emperors rule but Adam Rapp rocks! New doesnt say it--Groundbreaking!!! Clothes make the man but Rapp suits what the theater is doing to itself!
