WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Based on the world-famous novel by Bram Stoker, Dracula is the classic Gothic drama about the power of seduction and the nature of true love. When the mysterious Count Dracula takes an interest in the beautiful, young Lucy who suffers from horrific dreams and a strange illness, he arouses the suspicions of her fiancé Jonathan Harker and Professor Abraham van Helsing. Following a series of grisly murders and unexplained occurrences, the men fear Dracula may be one of the undead that prowls the darkness and preys upon innocent souls. George Hearn stars as Professor Van Helsing

Critique of Theatre's Concessions Policy
I?ll let the critics and others critique the show. I want to complain about the theatre?s policy of encouraging everyone before and during intermission to buy drinks and snacks to take into the theatre with them during the performance. It was very difficult for me to concentrate on the play while listening to ice being rattled in a cup, cellophane being crinkled for an hour while one ate licorice, and then empty plastic cups nervously being played with once empty. And I was five rows from the stage so image the actors must have eventually heard this. Is this the theatre experience I have to look forward to as owners look for more ways to make money? That night was one step up from an ill-behaved crowd on 42nd Street.

Critic of Theatre Policy
Ill let the critics critique the show. I want to complain about the theatres policy of encouraging everyone before and during intermission to buy drinks and snacks to take into the theatre with them during the performance. It was very difficult for me to concentrate on the way when I was listening to ice being rattled in a cup, cellophane being crinkled throughout the show while one ate licorice, and then empty plastic cups being played with - crunched - once empty. Is this the theatre experience I have to look forward to as one looks for more ways to make money. This experience was one step up from a bad movie on 42nd Street.

Given the phenomenal success of HBO's True Blood and the Twilight film series -- and the renewed mania for vampires which they have inspired -- it's little surprise that a revival of John L. Balderston and Hamilton Deane's classic 1927 stage adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, now at the Little Shubert, has flown back into town. But theatergoers hoping to find a sexy or spine-tingling night with the most famous member of the undead should be advised that director Paul Alexander has served up a horribly anemic if decidedly earnest production of the play, one that's neither atmospherically spooky nor campily funny.
To be sure there are moments in the piece that are unintentionally -- an[...]
