WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Fresh from a successful run in Los Angeles, which followed on the heels of his Backstage Bistro Award in New York, comedian and singer Tom D'Angora is bringing his "divinely" delicious stage show, Divas I've Done, to the infamous Studio 54 for Sunday night performances.

In his native Massachusetts, D'Angora grew up gay and very overweight. He turned to the only thing a chubby gay boy could find comfort in...living vicariously through the exciting women in show business! With the help of his fabulous divas and a heavy addiction to ABC soaps, D'Angora's childhood flew by. D'Angora has turned this adoration into inspiration with an outrageously funny, loving and entertaining evening dedicated to such irrefutable icons as Nancy Kerrigan, Princess Diana, Liza Minnelli, Fran Drescher, Ellen Greene, and The Golden Girls!

Highlights include: an energetic opening which owes its origins to The Village People's "YMCA;" a brilliant parody of "Somewhere That's Green" from Little Shop of Horrors which Playbill awarded an honorable mention as "vocal event of 2003;" and a take on "Maybe" from the musical Annie which has D'Angora waxing philosophical about his chance of being adopted by Angela Channing (Jane Wyman), the tyrannical matriarch of Falcon Crest. Add in a heartfelt but unwittingly hysterical number from Princess Diana: The Musical and you have the eclectic mix of D'Angora's passions.

Michael Duling directs, and is accompanied by Tracy Stark on piano. The show also features back-up singers Kate Pazakis, Christine Gonzales, Noel Cody, and Cara LaGreen. Each week Tom invites a special guest diva to perform at the end of the show. Scheduled to appear thus far are:

Sunday, March 13th: Marla Schaffel; Tony nominee and Drama Desk winner for Jane Eyre the musical.
Sunday, March 20th: Maya Days; star of Aida, Rent, and Jesus Christ Superstar celebrating Palm Sunday with "I Don't Know How To Love Him"
Sunday, March 27th: Natalie Joy Johnson from bare
Sunday, April 3rd: Christine Pedi; Forbidden Broadway legend
