Dance Theater of Harlem presents the world premiere of St. Louis Woman: A Blues Ballet. The jazz and blues-filled romp is choreographed by Michael Smuin with a score by Harold Arlen and Johnny Mercer, and features a 50-piece orchestra. It will share a bill with George Balanchine's neo-classical masterpiece, Four Temperaments.
Program A dates: July 8 at 8pm July 12 at 2:00 and 8:00 pm,
and July 13 at 3:00 pm

A second program features Balanchine's sublime Serenade, Robbins rollicking Fancy Free, Ashton's romantic pas de deux "Meditation" from Thais, and Robert Garland's New Bach, a 2001 work by the former DTH dancer, now company choreographer, set to three movements from Bach's Violin Concerto in A minor, that infuses neo-classical forms with urban dance moves.
Program B dates: Wednesday, July 9 at 8 pm, Thursday, July 10 at 8 pm, Friday, July 11 at 8 pm.
