In a flurry of ruffled skirts, stamping feet, and vibrant music, Dance Cuba transforms a folkloric dance tradition into a vibrantly new, unqiuely Cuban art form. Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba, hailing from Havana, Cuba, features a 16-member, all-female ensemble accompanied by a band of musicians and singers. Fusing the fiery passion of flamenco dance with the hypnotic rhythms of Afro-Cuban music and the spatial elegance of traditional ballet, the group presents a world premiere and selections from its dynamic repertoire of Spanish dance done "Cuban style."
