County of Kings is a tough, yet poignant biographical account of a good kid growing up in an unforgiving environment in this one man journey. Weaving hard- edged drama with urban poetry, the Brooklyn hip-hop artist spins his own coming-of-age memoir in this jarring and poignant solo performance. A true story of finding passion and purpose against all odds, Lemon paints a vivid portrait of his difficult and sometimes humorous experiences growing up during the most influential cultural movement of our time, the birth of hip-hop.

Moving and extraordinary
The sheer talent of Lemon Anderson makes what could have been a cliched, depressing story about a difficult inner city life into an uplifting, life-affirming hour and a half. Its a testament to the transformative power of words, and to the power of theater. Not to be missed.

RE:powerful story with an even more powerful storyteller
I just saw this show during previews and was moved by the story and in awe of the talent of Lemon. He takes spoken word to a higher plane. I recommend this show to all and in particular, Brooklynites and New Yorkers.
