WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Bizet's masterpiece brilliantly transplanted by Oscar Hammerstein from Spain to the American South. Not seen in New York in several decades, Carmen Jones is the only adaptation of a classical opera to become a long running hit. It originally premiered on Broadway in 1943. This musical is part of the York Theatre's Musicals in Mufti series.
