Ed Bullins' semi-autobiographical play follows the life of a young African American boy and that of his extended working class family over a 20-year period. Bullins is perhaps one of the most influential American playwrights of the last 50 years. He has won numerous awards and grants, including three Obie Awards, two Guggenheim fellowships, and three playwriting grants from the National Endowment for the Arts.
