WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Edge Theater Company presents Adam Rapp's new play, Blackbird, directed by the playwright.
It's Christmas Eve: a Desert Storm veteran with a herniated disk and a 19-year-old runaway heroin addict share the holiday in a filthy, run-down squat on New York's Canal Street. This unusual love story is grimly compelling, mixing gritty honesty with remarkable generosity and compassion. The play's delicate balance of emotion and humor reveal the sad, touching, sweet and difficult moments in human interaction. The play features Mandy Siegfreid and Paul Sparks.

Compelling as it is, the play is not for the faint of heart; it contains graphic scatological references, simulated drug use, and descriptions of trauma that can leave the viewer stunned and/or sickened.
The squalid naturalism of the production is firmly established by set designer David Korins, who has transformed the Blue Heron's Studio Theatre into an i[...]
