WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
BAC Flicks: Mondays with Merce is presented by Baryshnikov Arts Center in collaboration with The Cunningham Dance Foundation. This double feature includes films by Charles Atlas with choreography by Merce Cunningham, Merce Cunningham Dance Company.
Program as follows:
February 7, 2011
Sounddance (1975)
Cunningham's iconic work explodes onto the stage, with David Tudor's percussive score in perfect accord. With décor and costumes by Mark Lancaster.
Pond Way (1998)
A contemplative yet lively nature study, full of incident, with a pointillist backdrop by Roy Lichtenstein and a mesmeric score by Brian Eno. With costumes by Suzanne Gallo.
April 4, 2011
eyeSpace (2006)
A silvery dance unfolds to a score by David Behrman, with costumes and sets by contemporary artist Daniel Arsham.
An episode of the pioneering webcast series Mondays with Merce will precede the films, and the evening includes a talk with special guest artists.
