WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

Ashley Montana Goes Ashore in the Caicos....or What Am I Doing Here? by Roger Rosenblatt, is a series of piercingly funny vignettes about aging, angst, missed opportunities, New York, new age, the next big thing and the last hurrah. Rosenblatt is an acclaimed author of essays, books and plays. William Safire of the New York Times wrote that his work represents "some of the most profound and stylish writing in America today."

Jim Simpson, Artistic Director of The Flea, directs and leading the cast is Tony and Emmy award winning actress Bebe Neuwirth and celebrated actor Jeff DeMunn. Rounding out the cast of four is downtown phenomena Jenn Harris and the dashing James Waterston.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

Roger Rosenblatt's Ashley Montana Goes Ashore in the Caicos is two shows. The first is a crowd-pleasing confection that lobs softball criticisms at the inanities of politics, media, medicine, senior care, and cell phone usage; the second is a serious, often faux-somber meditation on the metaphysics of modern life.

As the show begins, an enormous reproduction of the titular Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue unravels behind the four players -- Jenn Harris, Jeffrey DeMunn, Bebe Neuwirth, and James Waterston -- but none of them react to it with feelings of lust, envy, or inadequacy.
