WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The Public Theater presents As You Like It, directed by Mark Lamos, as the first of two FREE productions in Central Park, as part of The Public Theater's year-long 50th anniversary celebration.
Enter the Forest of Arden, where melancholy spreads joy and poetry hangs from the trees. Rosalind, the brilliantly smart and cultured princess, and her strong-willed cousin, Celia, will try anything -- including cross-dressing -- to find both independence and love. Shakespeare's As You Like It is a gem of philosophy and desire, gender confusion and romantic fantasy.
Pick up your FREE tickets to Shakespeare in the Park on the day of the performance beginning at 1pm at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park, or from 1 to 3 pm at The Public Theater at 425 Lafayette Street, just south of Astor Place.
