WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
The York Theatre presents a staged concert reading of Androcles and the Lion as part of its Musicals in Mufti series. Richard Rodgers wrote his own lyrics for this Peter Stone adaptation of the Shaw classic for a television special in 1967. Under this gentle comedy about a small Greek tailor and the lion he befriends lies Shaw's fascination with man and non-conformity. This is a world stage premiere.
