WHAT IS IT ABOUT?

After an OBIE, rave reviews and several awards for their HBO specials, these two wickedly smart women will reunite for only 30 performances in Afterbirth: Kathy and Mo's Greatest Hits.

Since the 1986 production of The Further Adventures of Kathy and Mo, these two outrageous actors have soared to the top: Kathy Najimy in Sister Act, Hocus Pocus, Veronica's Closet, Broadway's Dirty Blonde, and King of the Hill (voice of Peggy Hill) and Mo Gaffney in recurring roles on Mad About You, Absolutely Fabulous, That 70's Show, and her currently starring role in Run of the House.

WHAT ARE CRITICS SAYING?

Just before Afterbirth: Kathy and Mo's Greatest Hits begins, sound designer Jon Gottlieb plays a mood-setting string of other people's greatest hits. The Jacksons twitter when Michael was the same age as some of his current best friends; Cyndi Lauper chirrups "Girls Just Want to Have Fun."

The Lauper hit, heard just before the reunited Kathy Najimy and Mo Gaffney appear as angels planning the world as we know it, is there for irony. Najimy and Gaffney have always declared themselves feminists and the ideas for many of their sketches spring from their urgent need to comment on feminist causes that are serious rather than fun.
