WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
A spellbinding new play from Caryl Churchill, A Number is a penetrating inquiry into the intersection of morality, nature versus nurture, and human cloning. Actor, playwright, and director Sam Shepard, not seen on stage for 30 years, plays Salter, the father who must look at the faces of his ethically questionable actions. He is joined by Dallas Roberts.
Sam Shepard stars only through January 16. Beginning Tuesday, January 18, Arliss Howard takes over his role.

Do you believe in second chances? Salter made some parenting mistakes when his son, Bernard, was young. With his wife already dead, he hit upon a unique solution to try again: He'd have Bernard cloned and start over. The acclaimed British playwright Caryl Churchill's latest work, A Number, uses this sci-fi premise as the basis for a compelling human drama.
