WHAT IS IT ABOUT?
Atlantic Theater Company presents 10 Million Miles, featuring a book by Keith Bunin, with music and lyrics by Patty Griffin. Michael Mayer directs. Irene Molloy, Matthew Morrison, Skipp Sudduth and Mare Winningham head the cast.
The show tells the story of Duane (Morrison) and Molly's (Molloy) road trip in an old pick-up truck from the southern tip of Florida to the Northwest corner of New York, with many detours along the way. The world premiere of this new musical explores the pursuit of love and family, and the geography of the American dream.

Among the many reasons to hold a grudge against Mamma Mia! is that the ABBA musical's enormous financial success has prompted the creation and production of several other shows in which pop songs are ineffectively shoehorned into a dramatic context. Not even the subsequent failure of Lennon, Good Vibrations, et al. has staunched the flow of these backward-constructed entertainments.
The latest example of the genre is 10 Million Miles, now receiving its world premiere at the Atlantic Theater Company. The show is directed by Michael Mayer, this year's Tony Award winner for his work on Spring Awakening, which began its theatrical life at the Atlantic last June.
