The show explores the backstory of L. Frank Baum’s iconic Tin Man.

Written by James Ortiz and directed by Ortiz and Claire Karpen, The Woodsman is a drama inspired by the backstory of L. Frank Baum's Tin Man character from the novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Now playing off-Broadway at New World Stages, the nearly dialogue-free show relies on puppetry, music, and choreography to tell its story.

The Woodsman's cast includes Benjamin Bass, Devin Dunne Cannon, Will Gallacher, Alex J. Gould, Amanda A. Lederer, Aaron McDaniel, Lauren Nordvig, James Oritz, Eliza Simpson, Meghan St. Thomas, and Sophia Zukoski. The production features music by Edward W. Hardy and lyrics by Jennifer Loring.
