Broadway Records has announced that it will be releasing a special limited edition vinyl of the The Lightning Thief – The Percy Jackson Musical cast album this winter. The double record set will be available exclusively at BroadwayRecords.com and is limited to a pressing of 1,000. Each record will be hand-numbered.

"We have been looking for the right cast album to debut on vinyl, and after one listen to The Lightning Thief, I knew that was the one," said Broadway Records president Van Dean. "We think we have created something really special for the Percy Jackson and cast album collectors. We are so excited that our first foray into vinyl is with this dynamic album."

The cast recording features the original off-Broadway cast, including Chris McCarrell (Les Misérables) as Percy Jackson, Carrie Compere (The Color Purple) as Sally, Sarah Beth Pfeifer (Legally Blonde: The Musical) as Clarisse, Jonathan Raviv (The Band’s Visit) as Brunner, James Hayden Rodriguez (Spring Awakening) as Luke, George Salazar (Godspell) as Grover, and Kristin Stokes (Fly by Night) as Annabeth. A North American tour of The Lightning Thief will launch in the fall of 2018.

Based on the best-selling Disney-Hyperion novel The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan, the musical is written by Joe Tracz (Netflix's Series of Unfortunate Events) and Rob Rokicki (Strange Tails). The story is described as follows: "Percy Jackson has newly discovered powers he can't control, has monsters on his trail, and is on a quest to find Zeus's lightning bolt and prevent a war between the Greek gods. Normal is a myth when you're a demigod."

The cast album, released on August 7, was produced by Michael Croiter and Rob Rokicki, and executive produced by Van Dean.
