Robert Newman, best known for his 28-year run as Joshua Lewis on the CBS soap opera Guiding Light, will be joining the cast of Perfect Crime at the Theater Center. Starting Monday, February 20, Newman will replace Richard Shoberg as Inspector James Ascher.

The cast also includes David Butler, Patrick Noonan, Patrick Robustelli, and Catherine Russell, who originated the role of Margaret Brent and has played every performance but four since the play opened in April 1987.

Perfect Crime is the longest-running play in New York City's history. Written by Warren Manzi and directed by Jeffrey Hyatt, the thriller is set in the home of a wealthy psychiatrist who is accused of murdering her husband. The handsome detective thinks he has it all figured out, but her husband's murder is only the beginning in what may just be the perfect crime.
