Two Plays Join the Playwrights Realm 2015-16 Season

The Playwrights Realm has announced two productions to join its 2015-16 season.

The first production will be the New York premiere of A Delicate Ship, written by Anna Ziegler. Performances will run from August 18-September 12 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater, with an official opening on August 27. Set in New York City on Christmas Eve, the play follows Sarah and Sam, whose debate on existential suffering takes a turn when Sarah’s childhood best friend Nate comes to the door.

Sojourners, written by Page One playwright Mfoniso Udofia, will follow in winter 2016. The play tells the story of Nigerian native Abasiama, who came to America with the hope earning a degree and returning to Nigeria. However, when her husband (via arranged marriage) is seduced by America, she must choose between the Nigerian or the American dream.

"We couldn’t be prouder that our next season features these two women of such extraordinary talent," said artistic director Katherine Kovner at the company's eighth annual Writers Block Party. "They have written plays filled with guts, emotion, poetry, and ineffable beauty. They are both works that we have developed and nurtured, and we are overjoyed to share them with our audience."
