Suzan-Lori Parks and James Houghton to Be Honored at 31st Annual Lortel Awards

The Lucille Lortel Awards honor the best of off-Broadway.

The 31st Annual Lucille Lortel Awards, honoring outstanding achievement off-Broadway, will be presented during a ceremony at NYU's Skirball Center on Sunday, May 1. The nominations will be announced on March 30.

This year's special honorees include Signature Theatre founding artistic director James Houghton and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks. Houghton will be presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award in honor of his 25 years at the helm of Signature, with Parks receiving an induction onto the famed Playwrights' Sidewalk in front of the Lucille Lortel Theatre.

The Off-Broadway League’s Lortel Awards Producing & Administration Committee (Terry Byrne, Denise Cooper, Margaret Cotter, Carol Fishman, George Forbes, Michael Page, Catherine Russell, Lindsey Sag, and Seth Shepsle) produces the Lortel Awards Ceremony. Writer and director Michael Heitzman returns to direct the Lortel Awards for the seventh consecutive year. The Lucille Lortel Awards are produced by special arrangement with the Lucille Lortel Foundation. Additional support is provided by Theatre Development Fund.
