EXCLUSIVE: Leslie Kritzer Sings "The Pricklepear Bloom" From The Robber Bridegroom

Kritzer starred alongside Steven Pasquale in the recent Roundabout Theatre Company production.

Ghostlight Records will release the cast album of Roundabout Theatre Company's recent musical revival of The Robber Bridegroom on September 9. But before the album is available in full, TheaterMania is offering a taste: Leslie Kritzer's saucy take on "The Pricklepear Bloom."

Along with Kritzer, The Robber Bridegroom starred Steven Pasquale, Andrew Durand, Evan Harrington, Greg Hildreth, Ahna O'Reilly, Nadia Quinn, Lance Roberts, and Devere Rogers. Tony nominee Alex Timbers helmed the production, with choreography by Connor Gallagher and music direction by Justin Levine.

The musical features a book and lyrics by Alfred Uhry, music by Robert Waldman, and orchestrations by Justin Levine and Martin Lowe. Based on the short story by Eudora Welty, The Robber Bridegroom takes place in the Natchez Trace in Mississippi, a dangerous and mysterious corner of the country teeming with a rogue's gallery of beguiling con men, hucksters, and charlatans. Chief among them is Jamie Lockhart — fair-faced gentleman by day, hardhearted bandit of the woods by night.

The album's 16-page full-color booklet includes production photography, a special note from director Alex Timbers and a synopsis by lyricist/librettist Alfred Uhry.
