Lincoln Center Theater has extended Dave Malloy's Preludes through Sunday, August 2, at the Claire Tow Theater. Developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin for LCT3, the world-premiere production is the first musical to be produced by LCT3 in the Claire Tow Theater. The production was originally scheduled to close on July 19.

From the creators of Natasha, Pierre & the Great Comet of 1812, Preludes is inspired by the music of Sergei Rachmaninoff and set in the Russian composer's hypnotized mind. After the disastrous premiere of his first symphony, the young Rachmaninoff suffers from writer's block. He begins daily sessions with a therapeutic hypnotist in an effort to overcome depression and return to composing.

The cast includes Eisa Davis, Gabriel Ebert, Nikki M. James, Joseph Keckler, Or Matias, and Chris Sarandon.

Preludes, commissioned by LCT3 with a grant from the Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation, features sets by Mimi Lien, costumes by Paloma Young, lights by Bradley King, sound by Matt Hubbs, and musical direction by Or Matias.
