In Rehearsal With Legs Diamond 30th Anniversary Reunion Concert
The cast and company of the Legs Diamond 30th Anniversary Reunion Concert are currently in rehearsal for their performances at Feinstein's/54 Below on December 3.
The concert reunites the original cast of the Peter Allen-Harvey Fierstein-Charles Suppon musical for the first time since the production's ill-fated 1988 run at the Mark Hellinger Theatre (now the Times Square Church). After a six-week workshop, Legs Diamond went straight to Broadway where, after a record-breaking 72 previews, the production closed after another 62 performances due to production problems and technical issues.
Featured in the reunion concert are Christine Andreas, Adrian Bailey, Brenda Braxton, Randall Edwards, Jim Fyfe, Ruth Gottschall, Norman Kauahi, Jennifer Paulson Lee, Mark Manley, Bob Stillman, Shaelynn Parker, and Kevin Weldon. Jonathan Cerullo directs.
Legs Diamond is the story of noted real life gangster "Legs" Diamond. The evening will feature songs from the show such as "When I Get My Name in Lights," "Sure Thing Baby," "Only an Older Woman," "The Man Nobody Could Love," "All I Wanted Was the Dream," "The Music Went Out of My Life," and "Say It Isn’t So," as well as backstage anecdotes and personal memories from the experiences of the cast on the Broadway run.
