Theatre for a New Audience has announced an extension for the Fiasco Theater production of Shakespeare's The Two Gentlemen of Verona, now running at the Polonsky Shakespeare Center in Brooklyn. Directed by Jessie Austrian and Ben Steinfeld, performances will now run through Sunday, June 7, after opening the production on April 30.

Fiasco Theater's six-person production was originally produced by Folger Theatre in Washington, D.C., and follows the company's acclaimed revival of Into the Woods with the Roundabout Theatre Company. Their minimalist interpretation of the classic Stephen Sondheim musical is currently nominated for Drama League, Drama Desk, and Lucille Lortel Awards for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.

The cast of The Two Gentlemen of Verona features codirector Jessie Austrian as Julia, Noah Brody as Proteus, Paul L. Coffey as Speed, Zachary Fine as Valentine, Andy Grotelueschen as Launce, Antonia, and the Duke, and Emily Young as Lucetta and Silvia.

"We've tried to be simple and direct in our staging and our acting of The Two Gentleman of Verona so that the philosophy within the play can be experienced and heard with honesty," said Fiasco artistic directors Jessie Austrian, Noah Brody, and Ben Steinfeld. "It may be our most 'bare-bones' production yet."
