The Playwrights Realm has announced casting for the upcoming world premiere of Mfoniso Udofia's Sojourners, directed by Ed Sylvanus Iskandar. The production will run from January 21-February 13 with a January 28 opening at the Peter Jay Sharp Theater.

The show's cast will feature Hubert Point-Du Jour as Ukpong, Lakisha Michelle May as Moxie, Chinasa Ogbuagu as Abasiama, and Chinaza Uche as Disciple.

Written by Page One playwright Mfoniso Udofia, the play tells the story of Nigerian native Abasiama, who came to America with the hope earning a degree and returning to Nigeria. However, when her husband (via arranged marriage) is seduced by America, she must choose between the Nigerian or the American dream.

The design team will include Jason Sherwood (scenic design), Jiyoun Chang (lighting design), Loren Shaw (costume design), Jeremy S. Bloom (sound design), Stefano Brancato (puppet design/direction), and Samantha Shoffner (props design).

The Playwrights Realm's Page One program nurtures and supports early-career playwrights. Following the run of her play, Page One playwright Mfoniso Udofia will get a one-year residency with the company. She will receive services including health insurance for one year, funding for travel/professional development, readings for scripts in development, theater tickets, and a desk in the Realm's midtown offices.
