Arnie Burton, Tam Mutu, Kevin Chamberlin Set for The New Yorkers at Encores!

Casting has been announced for the upcoming Encores! production of Cole Porter and Herbert Fields' 1930 musical The New Yorkers. The production will run March 22-26 at New York City Center.
Directed by John Rando (On the Town) and choreographed by Chris Bailey, The New Yorkers will star Cyrille Aimée, Clyde Alves (On the Town), Todd Buonopane (Cinderella), Arnie Burton (Machinal), Kevin Chamberlin (Disaster!), Mylinda Hull (The Nance), Robyn Hurder (Nice Work If You Can Get It), Byron Jennings (She Loves Me), Eddie Korbich (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Tam Mutu (Doctor Zhivago), Jeffrey Schecter (Fiddler on the Roof), Scarlett Strallen (A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder), Tyler Lansing Weaks (Macbeth), and Ruth Williamson (White Christmas).
The ensemble includes Matt Bauman, Sam Bolen, Christine DiGiallonardo, Brian Flores, Tessa Grady, Matthew Griffin, Curtis Holland, Evan Kasprzak, Marina Lazzaretto, Kathryn McCreary, Timothy McDevitt, Kristyn Pope, Mariah Reshea Reives, Lindsay Roberts, Brendan Stimson, Cody Williams, and Joseph Wiggan.
The New Yorkers is described as "a gleefully amoral celebration of speakeasies, gangsters, society dames, and the great city they love." Inspired by legendary cartoonist Peter Arno’s work for the New Yorker, the musical centers on socialite Alice Wentworth, whose bootlegger beau, Al Spanish, leads her on a madcap romp from Park Avenue to Sing Sing and back again.
Jack Viertel and Encores! music director Rob Berman have worked to make edits and insert additional Porter songs the existing material for the show, much of which has been lost, and Berman is developing arrangements with an ear to the style of the 1930s, which are being orchestrated by Josh Clayton and Larry Moore.
