Rock of Ages star Constantine Maroulis will make an appearance today at the Virgin Megastore Times Square at 6:30 pm. He will participate in a 15 minute interview with the Virgin Megastore DJ, followed by an autograph signing.
The jukebox musical -- using the music of such classic rock bands as Journey, Styx, Bon Jovi, Asia, and REO Speedwagon -- is currently performing at New World Stages. A film version from New Line Cinema is in the works, and there are rumors of a possible Broadway run.
Written by Chris D'Arienzo and directed by Kristin Hanggi, the musical focuses on a young rocker (Maroulis) hungry for his big break and a small town girl who meet in 1987 at a legendary Hollywood club facing its imminent demise.
The show also features Kelli Barrett, Nova Bergeron, Jackie Burns, Adam Dannheisser, Lara Janine, Mitchell Jarvis, Michele Mais, Lauren Molina, Brian Munn, Angel Reed, Paul Schoeffler, Christopher Spaulding, Will Swenson, Wesley Taylor, Tad Wilson, Savannah Wise, and Jeremy Woodard.
The show's creative team includes Kelly Devine (choreography), Beowulf Borrit (sets), Gregory Gale (costumes), Jason Lyons (lighting), and Ethan Popp (arrangements and orchestrations).
Maroulis first came to fame as a contestant on American Idol. He has starred on Broadway in The Wedding Singer and the Off-Broadway revival of Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris.
