Stage newcomer Paige Howard will play the title role in the Vineyard Theater's upcoming production of J.M. Barrie's Mary Rose. The show, to be directed by Tina Landau, will begin performances on February 1 and will open officially on February 20. Additional casting and creative team information will be announced at a later date.

Mary Rose is a 1920 play by Barrie, the author of Peter Pan. It tells the tale of a young woman who mysteriously disappears and then just as mysteriously returns to her family. The original Broadway production ran four months, and a 1951 revival played two weeks.

Landau has directed many shows for the Vineyard, including Miracle Brothers and Dream True, which she co-authored. Her other New York stage credits include the Broadway revival of Bells Are Ringing and the Off-Broadway production of Floyd Collins, which she co-wrote with Adam Guettel.

Howard will be making her professional theater debut in Mary Rose. A student at NYU, she is the daughter of Oscar-winning director Ron Howard and sister of actress Bryce Dallas Howard.
