Champlin, Dunne, Groff, Shnayerson to Participate in Bury the Dead Talkbacks

The Transport Group, which is presenting Irwin Shaw's 1936 anti-war play Bury the Dead, October 31-November 23, has announced a series of talk-backs.

On Monday, November 3, at 8pm, the theme will be "Theater-As-Protest," and will discuss current, politically-charged productions. Actor Jonathan Groff and assistant director Daniel Rigazzi will represent The Public Theater's Broadway-bound production of Hair; Marilynn Donini will represent St. Ann's Warehouse's current staging of Black Watch, and director Joe Calarco and actor Donna Lynne Champlin will represent Bury the Dead. Adam R. Perlman will moderate.

On Monday, November 10, at 8pm, Vanity Fair's Dominick Dunne and Michael Shnayerson (who is also Irwin Shaw's biographer) will share their personal experiences of World War II and Irwin Shaw. Transport Group's artistic director Jack Cummings III will conduct a live interview.

On Monday, November 17, at 8pm, Calarco will lead a discussion of Bury the Dead with participating artists, who will share their process for creating and preparing for the production.

In addition to Champlin, the cast of Bury the Dead includes Jeremy Beck, Fred Berman, Mandell Butler, Jake Hart, Jeff Pucillo, and Matt Sincell. The creative team includes Sandra Goldmark (sets), Kathryn Rohe (costumes), R. Lee Kennedy (lighting), and Michael Rasbury (sound).

Additional special events associated with the production include an opening night gala on Saturday, November 8, featuring a post-show reception with the cast and creative team, and a "Spread the Love" party on Thursday, November 13 for ticket holders under 30, including an open bar and live music by Ben Roseberry.
