(© Joseph Marzullo/Retna) | Elizabeth Franz, Bethany Butler, and John Boyd will star in the Vineyard Theatre's production of Julia Cho's The Piano Teacher, October 30-December 9. The play, which will open officially on November 18, will be directed by Kate Whoriskey, who also directed its world premiere last season at South Coast Repertory.
The show centers around a piano teacher who contacts some of her former students and stirs up unexpected memories. Cho's previous plays include Durango, BFE, and The Architecture of Loss.
Franz won the Tony Award for her portrayal of Linda Loman in the 1999 revival of Death of a Salesman and received Tony nominations for Brighton Beach Memoirs and the 2002 revival of Morning's at Seven. Earlier this year, she appeared in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of Howard Katz and the Williamstown Theatre Festival's production of The Autumn Garden.
The design team will include Derek McLane (set), Ilona Somogyi (costumes), David Weiner (lighting), and Obadiah Eaves (original music and sound).
