(© Carol Rosegg) | The musical Shlomo: The Life and Music of Shlomo Carlebach, currently playing the Museum of Jewish Heritage through May 9, will come back to the museum for a return engagement August 12-31, and record a cast album on May 11 with an anticipated late summer release.
The show, about the 20th-century rabbi and folk musician, is directed by David Schechter, who is also the lyricist. It features Carlebach's music, has a book by Daniel Wise and additional material by Carlebach's daughter Neshama. The creative team also includes Keith Levenson (musical arrangements), Steve Margoshes (orchestrations), Beowulf Borrit (sets), Tobin Ost (costumes), Jeff Croiter (lighting), and Shannon Slaton (sound).
The cast includes Josie de Guzman, Thursday Farrar, Paul Jackel, James Judy, Aaron Kaburick, Jillian Louis, Brooke Moriber, Gary Patent, David Reiser, Luke Rosen, David Rossmer, Daniel Rudin, Talya Smilowitz, Noah Solomon, and Lauren Weisman.
