Written in 1918 and last produced on Broadway in 1926, the play takes place in China, where Mother Goddam -- a Manchu princess who was sold into sex slavery but who has risen to great power by running an elegant brothel -- is having a dinner party for European society, where many secrets are eventually revealed.
The creative team includes Michael Anania (sets), Gail Cooper Hecht (costumes), Paul Hudson (lighting), and Margaret Pine (sound and music composition). Kalfin's may credits include Strider, Happy End, and Yentl.
