John Lithgow will bring his one-man show Stories by Heart back to Lincoln Center's Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater. Jack O'Brien will direct the performance, which will play Sunday and Monday nights, April 12-May 15, during the run of LCT's Happiness.

The solo show is a touching and funny meditation on the art and essence of storytelling. Invoking memories of his grandmother and father before him, Lithgow traces his own history as an actor and storyteller, a history spanning three generations. He will be performing two separate monologues in rotating repertory: Ring Lardner's Haircut and the P. G. Wodehouse story, Uncle Fred Flits By, which he presented in his solo show's prior engagement last year.

Lithgow recently starred on Broadway in All My Sons. He won Tony Awards for The Sweet Smell of Success and The Changing Room. He was also Tony-nominated for his performances in Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, M. Butterfly, and Requiem for a Heavyweight. Lithgow is well known for his starring role in the TV series Third Rock from the Sun, for which he received a Golden Globe, two SAG awards, and The American Comedy Award.

O'Brien is currently represented on Broadway by Impressionism and will direct the Broadway-bound musical Catch Me If You Can this summer. His many Broadway credits include The Coast of Utopia, Hairspray, and Henry IV, all of which earned him Tony Awards as Best Director, along with Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Imaginary Friends, The Full Monty, and The Little Foxes, among others.
