Playwrights Horizons has canceled the May 9 preview performance of its world premiere musical Saved, due to technical difficulties. The show, which will now run May 10-June 22, will be directed by Gary Griffin, with choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

The cast will feature Celia Keenan-Bolger, John Dossett, Mary Faber, Julia Murney, Aaron Tveit, John Breckenridge, Juliana Ashley Hansen, Curtis Holbrook, Van Hughes, Jason Michael Snow, Emily Walton, Morgan Weed, and Daniel Zaitchik.

Based on the 2004 film of the same name, the show features music and lyrics by Michael Friedman and book and lyrics by John Dempsey and Rinne Groff . It focuses on Mary (Keenan-Bolger) and her domineering best friend Hilary Faye (Faber), who are starting their senior year at the top of the social food chain at American Eagle Christian High School until Mary's boyfriend (Tveit) tells her he thinks he's gay. When Jesus appears in a vision and Mary heeds his message "to do everything she can to help him," her good deeds are met with dire consequences and Mary is forced to question everything she's ever believed.

The creative team includes Scott Pask (sets), Jess Goldstein (costumes), Donald Holder (lighting), Brian Ronan (sound), Curtis Moore (orchestrator), Jesse Vargas (music direction), and John Miller (music coordination). Trujillo is best known as the choreographer of Jersey Boys and All Shook Up. Griffin's many credits include The Color Purple, Passion, My Fair Lady and his current show, Dancing in the Dark.
