Classic Stage Company's production of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya, which will begin previews January 17 with an opening date of February 12, has announced a one-week extension and will now close March 8.

As previously announced, the production will be directed by Austin Pendleton, and star Denis O'Hare in the title role, with Maggie Gyllenhaal as Yelena and Peter Sarsgaard as Astrov. The cast will also include Cyrilla Baer (Marina), Mamie Gummer (Sonya), Delphi Harrington (Maria), George Morfogen (Srebryakov), and Louis Zorich (Waffles). The production will feature scenic design by Santo Loquasto, costume design by Suzy Benzinger, and lighting design by Jason Lyons.

O'Hare won a Tony and Drama Desk Award for his performance in Take Me Out, was Tony nominated for Assassins, and received a Drama Desk for Sweet Charity. The actor last appeared at CSC in Yasmina Reza's A Spanish Play in 2007. Gyllenhaal received Golden Globe nominations for Sherrybaby and Secretary, and her stage work includes Tony Kushner's Homebody/Kabul. Sarsgaard recently starred in the Broadway revival of The Seagull, and other stage work includes Burn This and Kingdom of Earth. His many film credits include Shattered Glass, Boys Don't Cry, Kinsey, Garden State, Jarhead, and The Dying Gaul.
