About This Show

The Straits, presented by the multiple award-winning 30 year old British Theater Company Paines Plough and written by the UK’s Critics’ Circle 2002 “Most Promising Playwright” Gregory Burke, follows an extraordinary summer in the lives of four teenagers in the Straits of Gibraltar during the Falklands War of 1982.

Gregory Burke’s first play, Gagarin Way, opened at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2001, then moved to the National Theatre before transferring to the Arts Theatre in London’s West End in April 2002. It won the Scotsman’s First of the Firsts, TMA Barclays Awards Best New Play and it shared the Meyer-Whitworth Award. It was also nominated for the South Bank Theatre Award and The Lawrence Olivier BBC Award for Best Play.

His latest play comes to New York as part of the Brits Off Broadway Theater Festival.
