About This Show

A landmark of the American musical theater, Marc Blitzstein’s The Cradle Will Rock was both novel and timely when first performed in 1937. Basic American values of free speech, free press, and freedom of religion are treated in a lighthearted yet serious manner through song, dance, and dialogue in a dizzying display of musical versatility. This satire of a town and the corruption of its leaders reminds us that it only takes one person to make a difference. David Fuller directs the production, which opens the Jean Cocteau Repertory’s 30th anniversary season.
