John B. Keene’s Sive is a powerful folk-drama set in the south-west of Ireland which concerns itself with the attempt of a scheming matchmaker and a bitter woman to sell an innocent young girl to a lecherous old man. Against the backdrop of 1950’s rural Ireland, the play is colorfully populated with traveling tinkers, bitter housewives and scheming matchmakers. Ciaran O’Reilly directs.
