About This Show

Edith Piaf sings on a record player. The sun’s warm light dances on the face of the sea. Amidst the sand and rich salt air, a once famous French actress meets the granddaughter she never really knew. They discover a common bond to a lost mother and daughter, Savannah.

This is the first major New York production of Marguerite Duras’ Savannah Bay. Exploring themes of love, loss and the overwhelming power of memory, Savannah Bay is a gossamer, lyrical and beautifully haunting work of theater.

Award-winning actress Kathleen Chalfant returns to Classic Stage to star, and internationally renowned director Les Waters stages this exquisite work.
