Julius Caesar
$5; $15; $20;$25
Irondale Ensemble Project presents Shakespeare’s great political thriller, Julius Caesar, as an intimate, actor driven production– close-up and visceral. In Rome, Caesar has triumphed and the people love him. Brutus and Cassias are worried that he will take power from the senators and crown himself emperor, so they plan to stop him. This is a tale of power, political corruption and nations bitterly divided–a timeless work of story-telling that is as fresh and relevant today as it was when written in 1599. Julius Caesar is part of Irondale’s 1599 Project, a series of fast and furious chamber productions, including Hamlet: Up Close, As You Like It, and Henry V, performed by the ensemble. The whole quartet will be presented in rep in Spring 2014. This is a promenade production in which the audience moves
throughout the theater and follows the action of the play.
