About This Show

Addressing the issues of both homophobia and domestic abuse, Peter Mac’s Judy and Me recounts the true story of gay teenager Anthony, trapped in the narrow-minded suburb of Elmont, Long Island. He finds his only escape in the music and entertainment of the iconic Judy Garland, who comes to life before his very eyes and counsels him through his daily struggles. Charles Tolliver directs.

The play originally played in a cabaret theater engagement at Rose’s Turn and went on to a nearly three-year run, transferring along the way to the Arthur Seelen Theatre and then The Producers Club.

Peter Mac’s sweetly earnest play about a young gay man and his imagined conversations with Judy Garland doesn’t exactly escape clichés and stereotypes.
