New York City
Tony Award-winning actress Michele Pawk and legendary dancer/choreographer, Marge Champion have signed on to the NYC debut of a new musical comedy, If the Shoe Fits! — winner of the National Music Theatre Network’s 2004 “Directors’ Choice” Award selected by John Rando, NMTN Guest Artistic Director, and a feature selection in the current New York Musical Theatre Festival and the prestigious 2002 “Next Stage” Festival at the Cleveland Play House.
Already being called “the illegitimate offspring of Urinetown and Avenue Q,” the musical is a story of romance, ambition and good old-fashioned depravity. A fractured fairy-tale for all audiences, it is a hilariously twisted mixture of The Red Shoes, Into the Woods and a very-non-Shakespearean Hamlet. In If the Shoe Fits!, it’s Christmas eve, there’s a clot in the royal bloodline and an irreverent cast of characters — which includes a truly indecisive melancholy Dane, an imperious princess, a wise-cracking angel, a French ballet dominatrix and her pampered daughter — create chaos as they vie for some very fancy (and magical) footwear!
Written by the team of Joe Miloscia (book/lyrics) and Kenneth Kacmar (music), If the Shoe Fits!, is directed by Matt August with musical direction by Mary-Mitchell Campbell.
Presented as concert readings.
