About This Show

In a land corrupted by famine and fear, parents grapple with the decision to abandon their children. Our pint-sized protagonists come of age as they find themselves lost in the woods. Traveling through a world of tumbling moonstones, dancing fire, prophetic puppets and a vaulting woodsman, the journey culminates in an aerial adventure beyond their wildest dreams. Grimm’s family moves from the intoxication of high impact swing dance to bittersweet moments of physical entanglement as they discover the light in the heart of the wood… lost is not a location but a transformation.

While playing with his son, Max, highly seasoned director and choreographer Otis Cook wondered “Why are we always afraid of everything?” Along with his partner, choreographer and dancer Faith Pilger, this question became the central motor of their new piece Grimm. Otis and Faith have opened up the original Grimm fairy tales and mined them for their psychological and emotional truth. This is not a mere retelling of the “Hansel and Gretel” story but a close examination of parenting, rebellion, and discovery. Told with exquisite detail, the characters find out what it means to be lost in the woods and discover their own individuality.

There is a gallery showing of photo and art renderings of the production one hour prior to each performance.
