About This Show

25 years after poet and playwright Ntozake Shange invented a new form of theatrical storytelling with her landmark “chorepoem” For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide/When the Rainbow is Enuf, director George Faison and a cast of veteran African-American actresses create the classic piece anew, instilling it with their collective experience over the past quarter-century. In this new production, the director has chosen to portray the seven women telling their stories in the play not as young women expressing a time of crisis and challenge in their lives, but as older and wiser women, survivors who have much to impart to their younger sisters.
Running Time: 90 minutes
(No intermission)
May be inappropriate for ages 16 and under.
